Apple rootstocks B396 and MM106 were tested in combination with the apple cultivars 'Sinap Orlovskij', 'Koricnoje Novoje', 'Konfetnoje' and 'Iedzenu'. The results of monthly or weekly growth rhythms show that the best coincidences in the growth of the scion and graft components was observed with the cultivars 'Sinap Orlovskij', 'Iedzenu' and 'Konfetnoje' grafted on the rootstock MM106. Only partial coincidence of monthly or weekly growth rhythms was observed for the same cultivars, but grafted on the rootstock B 396 and also for 'Koricnoje Novoje' on MM106 or B396. The results, obtained using the technique of auksanography, showed coincidence in diurnal rhythms between the cultivars 'Iedzenu' grafted on B396 in a period at the beginning of growth, but during the phenophase of maximum growth considerable discoincidence was observed. Evaluating coincidence among the cultivars, the highest value -63% was for 'Konfetnoe' grafted on MM106, but the lowest for 'Iedzenu' on B396. Investigation of diurnal, monthly or weekly growth rhythms of graft cultivars and rootstocks is suggested as a method of forecasting the level of hidden incompatibility of the graft components.
