QCD on the lattice: Selected topics in heavy-quark physics and other hard processes

I review two topics in particle physics phenomenology to which lattice field theory has provided significant results and insights. These are exclusive decays of B-mesons and the evaluation of power corrections in hard scattering and decays processes. The appearance and cancellation of renormalons and power divergences is discussed.
