摘要
Quantification of stray load losses, such as in-plane eddy-current loss in electrical steel sheets and circulating-current loss in armature windings, is important for designing rotating machines of high efficiency. We have investigated the in-plane eddy-current losses for machines with 6 poles and 36, 54, and 72 slots using finite element method. It was found that the losses caused by in-plane eddy currents in the stator cores of permanent-magnet (PM) synchronous machines depend on the number of slots, i.e., tooth width. The relation between the inplane eddy-current loss and tooth width can be explained by the skin depth of the electrical steel sheets used for the stator cores.
