Sterile purulent meningitis/arteritis in a dog. A case report

The clinical signs associated with a case of sterile purulent meningitis/arteritis in a three year old Deutsche Dachsbracke are descibed. The dog presented with extreme pain on movement of the head and neck region. A distinct low head position, very careful movements and extreme pain from passive dorsoflexion, ventroflexion and lateroflexion MIL la the obvious signs. Other neurological deficits were not to seen. Sterile purulent meningitis/arteritis was suspected form the neurological examinations, the results of laboratory examinations, myelography, analysis of cerebro-spinal fluid and the exclusion of possible differential diagnoses. The details of the diagnostic procedure are described together with the treatment regime.
