Law Applicable on the Outer Continental Shelf and in the Exclusive Economic Zone

The United States has a robust array of laws to manage the resources and development of the outer continental shelf and Exclusive Economic Zone. These laws were adopted with particular issues in mind and thus have different and sometimes even conflicting goals. After a brief introduction to a representative portion of these different management regimes and their inherent conflicts, this Article will discuss some of the promising ways to unify these laws and improve the approach to offshore management being explored by policymakers today.
