摘要
On the early period of the city Ulm - new information from old excavations In the context of the complete analysis of the archaeological sources concerning early urban development of Ulm as a first step, the results of excavations from the Weinhof Ulm, having long been in the focus of historical urban research, have been analysed. Therefore since the 1920s archaeological investigations have repeatedly taken place here. As archaeological features and finds are only partly known it is still difficult to reconstruct the Carolingian palace. A fortification reaching back to Merovingian times and building remains of very high quality dating to the 6(th) to 8(th) century indicate that this area was suitable to house the Frankish court which could also make use of a ecclesiastic building not later than the 10(th) century.
