摘要
Cutting stock problems are essential in many industries where the main objective is to cut the pieces out of the sheets (or rolls) in such a way that minimizes the total waste and maximize material utilization, This paper introduces a set of tools that can be used with different solution approaches to solve different cases. These tools are used for: entering shapes to PCs, then handling them for moving and rotation, detection of intersection and prevention of overlap, and calculation of area of regular and irregular shapes. This set of tools has been implemented successfully on a windows based environments and used with different optimization approaches including genetic algorithms and provided good results.
