An overview is given of a detailed procedure that has to be followed while carrying out underwater explosion experiments on the plane plates. Designing the fixture to meet the infinite battle condition ensures that the full effect of the shock wave is felt without nullification by the diffracted wave from the baffle edge. Making an estimation of the pressure and acceleration gives the advantage of the right selection of sensors, amplifiers and data recorders. Applying cutoff frequency to the strain signal eliminates the undesirable high-frequency components caused by the amplifier overshoot and presents the realistic data.
