Quality in Education - Comparison of the curricula of two departments of Mechanical Engineering

摘要
This paper presents a comprehensive study, that compares the curricula of the school of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Patras, based on five years studies and the respective one of the Technical Institute of Patras, based on four years study, using the total quality techniques. The profession of Mechanical Engineer has been influenced dramatically by the current global situation of challenge and change. It is obvious that the Universities must satisfy modem requirements taking into account the social and environmental problems. The program of studies consists one of the criteria with which a University Department demonstrates the quality and its effectiveness. The purpose of this study is the creation of a working model for use in the comparative assessment of two educational departments.
