Hydroelectric project "El Cajon, Nay. Mexico" design and construction of the deviation project using the criterion of compound corrugation

摘要
The diversion tunnels for "El Cajon" dam, were designed using the methodology proposed by Dr. Humberto Marengo Mogollon, which consisted of using the compound corrugation criterion since it was considered that the floor and walls should be covered with conventional concrete and the vault should be covered exclusively with thrown concrete. Additionally, the construction of the two tunnels of portal section measuring 14 meters, capable of discharging a maximum consumption of 7,011 m(3)/s and of a total length of 1,545 meters were constructed in just 9 months. Also an additional criterion of constructing a pre-divert tunnel of portal section measuring 6 meters wide, 14 meters tall and 734 meters long was applied in order to conclude both tunnels during the low water season when the water had already been divert from the river's bed. Both the design and the construction aspects made it possible to start the construction before it was planned, winning a year of generation of electric energy consisting of 1,228 GWh, which represents a profit of approximately 100 million dollars. In the article are presented in detail the design and constructing aspects.
