摘要
In the present research work, a numerical simulation of temperature distribution for laser beam welding of St37 carbon steel has been investigated. The geometry created for this model is similar to the butt joint of 1.4-mm-thick material, and cooling effect caused by the free convection and radiation in ambient air is taken into account. The effect of average beam power and laser spot diameter on the transient temperature distribution and peak temperature has been investigated. It has been found the peak temperature increases with increase in average beam power and decreases with increase in spot diameter at constant welding speed. The mechanical properties such as microhardness and ultimate tensile strength of the welded joint have also been studied.
