This paper assesses the experiences of Japanese men and women living in the city of Madrid (Spain) and occupying different social positions. The aim is to focus on such experiences as relevant factors in the symbolic struggles that progressively build up positions, practices and identities of certain groups in relation to other in different urban contexts (work, neighborhood, education, etc.).
