Probability distributions of firm sizes and growth rates: Some evidence from Chinese listed companies

Based on the data of 1053 listed companies in China from 1997 to 2004, the sizes of listed companies are found out to be slightly increasing, and there's a Normal Distribution for its probability. At the same time, the Laplace Distribution for growth rates probability of listed companies is, confirmed. But the standardized sizes of listed companies decrease slightly year after year with a Unit-root nature in its time series. And there are fat-tails in the probability distributions of both firm sizes and growth rates. The aforementioned specificities indicate that the listed companies develop comparable well in China, but some recessionary should cause our enough attention.
