摘要
A series of linear polymers with a systematically varied hydrophobic/hydrophilic balance in their monomer was synthesized and explored its water-solution behavior. It was shown through simple scaling arguments that these temperature-responsive polymers obey a linear dependence of the transition temperature on the monomeric hydrophobic/hydrophilic balance. By tailoring the monomer stoichiometry, transition temperatures from 7 to 70°C in water at ambient pressures were achieved.
