The German Bundestag election 2005

The German election of 18 September 2005 was remarkable for the circumstances in which the election came to be held a year ahead of schedule, as well as for aspects of the campaign, the indecisive result and the unusual coalition government formed after the election. These features have potential consequences for the economic and social situation of Germany, but also for the party system and other aspects of representative government in Germany. © The Author [2006].
