The historical production on the history of the Czech political Catholicism (or on catholic political parties, among which Czechoslovak People's Party - CPP was far most important in 1918-1938) is now very rich, yet it has not been able to fully cover the long times when it was not possible to write about it objectively. The production on the history of CPP can be divided into three periods. The first works were written during the First Czechoslovak Republic and in the years 1945 1948 (during the Nazi occupation none were written). These works were largely journalistic and the most important are the works by editors Josef Dolezal and Ferdinand Peroutka. Several publications were also published on the occasion of the jubilees of the CPP leaders. In the times after the communistic takeover in February 1948, there were no publications on the history of CPP. In 1960's there were works rather negative against the Christian politics. A certain exception were the years 1968-1969, when some more objective works were written, based on the archival basic research and the First Republic press. There were also works on Christian politics at the theological faculties. However, during the so called "normalization" it was not possible to continue in this trend. Only after 1989 the works on the history of the Czech political Catholicism were gradually published. There were wide works on the history of the First Czechoslovak Republic, in which the depiction of CPP was already objective. There were also works on political Catholicism itself or on the personalities connected with this movement (P. Marek, F. X. Halas, J. Sebek, M. Trapl, and others). At present the research on the interwar history of CPP and Catholicism in general belongs to the significant spheres of interest of our historiography.
