Value of intellectual property in the knowledge age

Present paper describes most important aspects of intellectual property, showing the subjects to which intellectual property is related, e.g. the intellectual creating environment, implications to society, the state and the company. in PDVSA-Intevep, intellectual property has gone through three big periods: first one: generation of prestige, second: technological valorization, and third and current: competitiveness, in which intellectual property constitutes a tool which, allows supporting the two main objectives of the organizations, namely technological positioning and corporate business management. Knowledge generation and its application have been the greatest challenges of Intevep.
