摘要
Shame is a kind of conscience, which is an important component of Chinese ethical culture. It is a process of grasping goodness in manner of negativity, the only way to circuitously achieve the ambit of virtue. Shame consists of two directions of "looking outward" and "looking inward" in general, which connect and echo with each other in the foundation of morality. However, Chinese people's shame is evidently community-oriented and conformity-oriented, and in the period of social transformation it manifests as the outward unidirectional shame which is a kind of distortion and dissimilation. In the ethic construction, we should thoroughly grasp the bidirection and unidirection of shame, combine heteronomy with autonomy and positively build a standard system composed of law, ethics and shame, so as to promote the transformation and sublimation of outward shame into inward shame.
