The Effect of Nano Fly Ash on Properties of Cement Mortar

摘要
In this research, the ball mill is used for the preparation of Nano powder from a fly ash material resulted from kufa cement factory for supporting mortar using produced Nano powder as a partial replacement of Portland cement by a weight percentage of (0.25 to 1%). The reference mix was made with a cement-to-sand ratio of 1:2.75 and the water-to-cement ratio was kept at 0.5. To study the structure, physical, mechanical, as well as thermal properties, inspections have been done including particles size, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and testing concentration and the thermal conductivity of the mortar. Experimental outcomes display that the generated Nano powders have a particle size of (100 nm) and that the structural properties improved significantly with the development phase of calcium silicate hydration C-S-H, disappearance of porosity and the high density as well as the enhancement in compressive and thermal insulation properties that make the Nano material has low cost and hence it becomes useful for construction and restoration works.
