Computerised maintenance management systems in integrated iron and steel plants

In a Large Integrated Iron & Steel Plant, the diversity and the magnitude of installed equipment calls for a well defined, procedure oriented and well documented system of maintenance. It is, therefore, of utmost importance to develop proper database and utilise the potential of computers to generate effective information system for decision making. The implementation of CMMS has strengthened and improved the maintenance systems at the Integrated Iron & Steel Plants. The maintenance planning activities have been simplified with the information on critical pending jobs, ready availability of past data on maintenance, information on availability of spares at both stores and engineering units and updated status of all the on-going jobs.
