The Connexion of Phenomenality and Transcendentality in the Context of Phenomenological Work with the Field

This study investigates the influence of Merleau-Ponty's (and to an extent Husserl's) tendency to focus on the phenomenal field in articulating the relation between phenomenality and transcendentality and in weakening the phenomenological differentiation of appearance and phenomenon. The question is posed of how, in the context of phenomenological work with the field, we might understand the fact that phenomenology is a transcendental philosophical discipline. The study emphasises the transformative significance of the transcendental method and prepares the way for a topological interpretation of the transcendental field.
