Selective removal of silyl protecting groups from hydroxyl functions with ammonium chloride in aqueous acetonitrile

摘要
Silyl ethers are efficiently hydrolyzed to their corresponding alcohols with NH4Cl in aqueous acetonitrile. Benzylic, secondary and tert-trimethyl silyl ethers are readily cleaved at room temperature, whereas deprotection of primary and some crowded secondary trimethyl silyl ethers takes place at 80degreesC.
