Effects of spin-flip scattering in double quantum dots

摘要
We report on a theoretical investigation of spin-flip scattering effects in a device where two quantum dots are side-coupled to a quantum wire. Conductance of the wire in the Kondo regime is found to be controlled by a dimensionless parameter k(F)L where k(F) is the Fermi wave vector and L is the distance between the two quantum dots. A transport resonance is established in the Kondo regime where the two dots couple strongly through the wire, causing conductance to reach unitary value. The spin-flipping scattering significantly alters transport properties by disrupting the resonance such that the conductance can drop from the unitary value to vanishingly small.
