A METHODOLOGY TO GUARANTEE THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ASTM A131 STEEL GRADE AH36 FOR MODIFICATIONS IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF "TORPEDO STAKE"

摘要
To change any manufacturing process, it is necessary to verify whether the properties of the material employed are in accordance with necessary requirements, and in this case the requirements are defined by ASTM. This work proposes a methodology for the detailed and judicious evaluation of the properties of ASTM a-131 grade ah36 steel, used in the manufacture of "torpedo stake". "Torpedo stake" is a stake used for anchoring deep and ultra-deep water floating structures. The purpose is to guarantee reliability in the results, in the application of this steel when the process of manufacture of the "torpedo stake" is modified. ASTM a-131 grade ah36 steel, donated by the Brazilian Navy Arsenal, was used in the present work. With this study, it is possible to verify whether its properties meet the requirements to, when modifying the manufacture process by calendering, originate the cylindrical body of the "torpedo stake", with characteristics inside the desirable standards. This methodology includes sample identification with analysis of sample characterization and equivalence, followed by specimen preparation and orientation, ultrasound test, macrography, micrograph, test on the chemical analysis of the sample, and impact test. The proposed methodology was adequate and and with the result, it was verified that the steel supplied is in accordance with the required specifications.
