Operation of Solar PV Grid Integrated Dual VSC-BES with Multimode Seamless Transition Capability

摘要
This paper presents a solar photovoltaic array (SPVA)- battery energy storage (BES) based three-phase microgrid (MG), which performs in two modes, i.e., grid interactive mode (GIM) and standalone mode (SAM). In GIM, an adaptive-based block-sparse least mean square (BS-LMS) algorithm is utilized for generating the triggering pulses to the voltage source converter1 (VSC1) and eradicating the harmonics in grid currents. Under the grid fault condition, the MG shifts towards the SAM. Here, two parallel connected VSCs are utilized for power quality enhancement and power flow management. Moreover, the primary VSC1 connects the SPVA to the common coupling point (CCP) and the secondary VSC2 connects the battery at the CCP. The maximum power extraction (MPE) is achieved by controlling the DC-DC boost converter (BC) by using the maximum power point tracking (MPPT)-based perturb & observed (P&O) algorithm. The MG control strategy is verified through simulated results.
