Some aspects of the function of negation in moroccan arabic

Sentential negation in Moroccan Arabic is realized by two elements, ma- and -s/si. Three aspects will be considered in this paper: first, the origin of these two elements, second, the morphological constraints that characterize sentential negation in the context of verbal and non verbal predicates and finally, a particular rise of the sentential negation in verbal sentences, the metalinguistic negation.
