Measurements and numerical analysis of ground vibrations at DESY Hamburg

Measurements of vertical ground vibrations in Hamburg at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY, show a significant influence of traffic loads for frequencies f >= 1 Hz. Here the amplitudes of the power spectral density, PSD, are shifted to higher values. A numerical model is presented to estimate road traffic induced ground vibrations. It is composed of a linear two degree of freedom system for vehicles, excited to vertical oscillations by the passage of uneven roads. The moving dynamic interaction force wheel-surface is applied directly on the boundary of the elastic halfspace. Greens-functions are used to calculate the vertical steady-state soil response at the surface and at a fix observation point in time domain.
