2-(5-Bromo-3-methylsulfinyl-1-benzofuran-2-yl)acetic acid

In the title compound, C11H9BrO4S, the O atom and the methyl group of the methylsulfinyl substituent lie on opposite sides of the plane of the benzofuran fragment. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot O interactions. In addition, the crystal structure exhibits a Br center dot center dot center dot pi interaction of 3.551 (3) angstrom between the Br atom and the centroid of the benzene ring of an adjacent molecule.
