Asian and Latin American money managers look at free trade

When introducing the World Opinion section of this journal in its Spring edition, its editor, Marta Lagos, stated that it would look at 'public opinion data with global relevance'. World Opinion was to showcase 'data collected from different countries' around the 'globe' with respect to a specific event or set of events and show 'collective opinion towards' these events (Lagos, 2003, p.95). This note intends to review opinion with respect to the issues of free trade and globalization in two geographic regions: Asia and Latin America. Thus, we hope to have met the de ning criteria of this section by analyzing an opinion object from the perspective of two culturally and racially diverse populations. Comparative analysis must also establish equivalence. Therefore, we will limit the focus of this exercise to an audience of financial elites in these two regions chosen with the same sampling criteria and interviewed with the same method with respect to the concept of trade liberalization.
