ILLUSTRATION AND ANIMATION PROCESS FOR A HISTORICAL NARRATIVE IN A VIDEO MAPPING PROJECTION

摘要
The current article proposes a method to develop illustrations and animations for a historically accurate visual production. The object of study proposed derives from the development of an audiovisual production, projected with video mapping technique at Antigos Paws do Concelho, on May 2019, titled "Viana do Castelo: Uma Viagem no Tempo", showcasing the local history and cultural heritage of Viana do Castelo. The most usual use of the video mapping technique is of visual effects, dedicated to the special effects and visual appeal, without a communication intent of historical facts. Interested in the unexplored potential, the present project innovates by developing an audiovisual production, to be projected using the video mapping technique to achieve the main goal of communicating and diffusing historical knowledge. By gathering visual references from multiple historical eras and analyzing them, by interpreting and enhancing the hosting building three-dimensionality, by developing characters and scenario with historical setting and purpose, and by conveying historical facts with an intricate visual narrative, the reception, the interaction, and the cultivation of the audience's cultural awareness and knowledge is enriched and enhanced.
