Risk assessment of explosion in coal-fired power plant

摘要
Modern industry operates with considerable amounts of explosible, flammable and toxic substances being raw material, products or wastes. These problems concerns also coal-fired power plants. Paper deals with general requirements of EU Directives related to explosion risk and with some aspects of practical approach to explosion risk assessment based on ALARP methodology. Solution of explosion safety problem for coal-fired power plants is given basing on ATEX USE Directive. Methodology of formulation of explosion safety document is described, supported by practical examples. Emphasized are ignition sources, probabilities of explosion occurrence. Also the integration of the explosion safety with safety assurance systems is taken into account.
