Sawtooth Voltage Source Based on Field Programmable Analog Array

In this article two useful schemes of asymmetric and triangle sawtooth voltage sources with variable period are discussed. Both sawtooth-signal schemes are based on the Field Programmable Analog Array (FPAA), so no other external active elements or filters are needed. The design was performed with using free application software AnadigmDesigner2. Then, for an example of its appliance in radar rangefinders and altimeters which uses continuous-wave frequency modulation (CWFM), we developed a signal conditioning circuit to control a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The resulting schemes were analyzed in terms of the quality of the functions performed.
