摘要
The present study deals with the elaboration of several new oxide glasses based on barium, strontium and zinc, and their investigation in order to show the influence of composition on the refractive index and density. Mixtures based on barium, strontium and zinc oxide were melted at 1450 degreesC for four hours, and annealed at 580 degreesC using electrical furnaces. The density and refractive index were determined with a Micrometrics Accupyc 1330 Pycnometer - type densimeter and Abbe refractometer in visible light. The refractive index varies from 1.537 to 1.571 and density varies from 2.840 to 3.137 g/cm(3). The analysis clearly shows the influence of the chemical composition on these properties. Moreover, proportionality between density and refractive index is confirmed in this work.
