Library and information science and the digital humanities: are they sciences of the information?

Library and information science (US) investigates among others the possibility of positively influencing the cyber-infrastructure. Similarly, the examination of the relationship between technology and the human is fundamental for the digital humanities (DH). To prove this statement, which leads to the inference that both disciplines are involved in studying information, the characteristics of LIS and DH are examined. As the elucidation of the concept "information" is vital for this scrutiny, a number of approaches toward information are outlined.
