THE STRUGGLE FOR A COLLECTIVE IDENTITY: TEXTUAL-DISCURSIVE ASPECTS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF LGBT ETHOS

The effervescent contemporary discussions on social problems linked to vulnerable groups call attention to linguistic studies. In this sense, themes such as sexual and gender diversity, LGBT human rights and the fight against LGBTphobia have gained increasing space on social media and in academic research. Situating on the theoretical-analytical assumptions of Textual Linguistics and Rhetorical Argumentation, this article seeks to investigate the reference processes and argumentative-rhetorical strategies that indicate the construction of the collective LGBT ethos in the text of activists from two LGBT entities in Aracaju city, Sergipe state. Methodologically, it is a qualitative research and takes the descriptive-interpretative approach, opting for the open interview as a technique for collecting the corpus. The results point to the LGBT ethos split between LGBTphobia and everyday resistance in socio-political context of struggles for the construction of a collective identity, through the intertwining of different textual-discursive aspects.
