摘要
Wind energy is one of renewable energy sources, which is copiously available without any limitation. Wind turbines are used to tap the potential of wind energy. Thus, stability and reliability of wind turbine is critical to extract this maximum amount of energy from the wind. To keep the wind turbine in operation, implementation of condition monitoring is paramount. This paper, firstly, demonstrates the principle, the interrogation system and the selection of operational style of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. Secondly, condition monitoring in wind turbines by using embedded FBG sensors is described in details. Finally, questions and future are carried out. FBG sensor system can keep away the wind turbines from catastrophic conditions due to sudden breakdowns.
