摘要
Automotive mmWave radar has been widely used in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and is expected to become a key component of autonomous vehicles. With the ever increasing deployment of vehicular electronics and wireless communication systems, the Electromagnetic (EM) environment in and around the vehicle is becoming much more complicated. To ensure the proper operation of millimeter wave (mmWave) radar systems under these conditions, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) tests are essential. However, EMC testing for such systems requires the system to operate under real-world conditions in a controlled environment, which involves the use of a mmWave target simulator and a new test scheme inside an anechoic chamber. In this paper, the challenges of automotive EMC testing for mmWave radar are analyzed, and an in-lab Electromagnetic Susceptibility (EMS) test procedure for automotive mmWave radar system is proposed. Experiments are conducted in a 10-meter semi-anechoic chamber at the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd (CAERI) to verify the effectiveness of the proposed procedure, and several interesting findings are reported.
