摘要
The following article aims to reflect on the influence of institutional acquisition policies on the low presence of performances in the collections of Brazilian museums. As a case study, it considers the acquisition policy of Castro Maya Museums, in Rio de Janeiro, based on the presence of the work "Composition", by Georges Mathieu. Resulting from an action carried out by the artist in 1959, where he painted all the works that were part of his exhibition in an open studio, at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, the work formally integrates the painting collection of the institution. What we ask ourselves here is: if cases like this were better documented and identified in this and similar institutions, in what way might this behave have influenced the structure of these collections and even the national scene regarding the documentation and research of performance art?
