摘要
By means of an appropriate tribometer designed for this purpose, various iron alloys were examined with regard to their tribological behavior. Among these engineering materials, there were three cast iron alloys containing 20-25% aluminum. Based on the findings within the framework of this research, one can observe that the new cast iron alloys display very favorable wear properties. In this regard, they seem to be capable of replacing a large group of cast iron alloys of the type GG-20, GG-30, GGG-30, and GGG-60 currently used in the automotive industry for manufacturing different parts of the car engine as well as brakes. In particular the lower specific weight of the new cast iron alloys may be of great significance to the automotive industry.
