A Fingerprint Image Segmentation Algorithm Based on Multi Index Amalgamation

Based on research and analysis of some mainstream single index fingerprint image segmentation algorithms, this paper proposed a new fingerprint image segmentation algorithm. The whole processing employs several single index segmentation algorithms, including Regional Gray Variance, Edge Detection, and Threshold Processing, to obtain corresponding groups of result. Then, the new algorithm borrows the idea of Voting Act in the real world to achieve a final Fingerprint image segmentation result. Experimental results showed that the new Multiple Index Incorporated Algorithm has better performance in noise immunity, reduces the phenomenon of error segmentation, and therefore can provide a better Fingerprint image segmentation approach especially for those low quality fingerprint images.
