Stick-slip motion: an important example of self-excited oscillation

摘要：
Self-excited oscillations arising in dynamical systems with Coulomb-type friction are reviewed. Oscillation amplitude is estimated analytically. The critical speed, below which static equilibrium is unstable, is calculated in terms of measurable parameters.
