Effects of Sintering Temperature on Mechanical Properties of Ti3AlC2/ZA27 Composites

摘要
A series of Ti3AlC2/ZA27 composites have been synthesized by mechanical alloying and pressureless sintering, using the mixed powder of Ti3AlC2 and ZA27 as raw material. The effects of sintering temperature on phase composition, microstructure and mechanical property were investigated. The results show that the relative density, Vickers hardness, bending strength and tensile strength increase with the increasing of sintering temperature from 600 degrees C to 870 degrees C. Both the bending strength and tensile strength reach the maximum values of 592 and 324 MPa, respectively, at 870 degrees C. A weak reaction between Ti3AlC2 and ZA27 takes place at 870 degrees C and it leads to the good bonding between the reinforcements and the matrix.
