The local solar motion and the scalelength of the Galactic disc

摘要
It is suggested that the observed variation of velocity dispersion with asymmetric drift is consistent with a local solar motion in the direction of Galactic rotation of similar to 11 km s(-1), together with a systematic variation of disc scalelength with age.
