Effect of electron beam irradiation on compatibility of HDPE/PA6 blend

摘要
The compatibility of polyamide (PA6) and the electron beam irradiated high density polyethylene (e-HDPE) was studied in this paper. Some oxygen-containing groups (mainly the carbonyl group) are introduced into the molecular chains of HDPE through electron beam irradiation, thus the polarity of HDPE is increased, and the surface tension of HDPE increased from 32.47 dyne/cm to 36.05 dyne/cm, especially the hydrogen bond part of the surface tension, which was increased from 1.21 dyne/cm to 1.74 dyne/cm. It shows that through electron beam irradiation, the ability of the irradiated HDPE to form hydrogen bonds with the polar groups of the PA6 was improved, and the mechanical properties of the HDPE/PA6 blend was also improved.
