Different empirical calculation methods based on the database of pile load tests are investigated within this paper. The calculation method according to the British method ICP-05 leads to different results in the design compared to the method according to EA-Pfahle for pipe piles (open-ended and closed) and driven pre-stressed concrete piles. Therefore, it would lead to uncertainties in the evaluation regarding the safety philosophy by opening national guidelines for international calculation methods without further investigations. Based on the experiences of the EA-Pfahle new correlation factors were derived, which calibrate the ICP-05 methods for a 10 % and 50 % quantile. The correlation factors depend on the pile diameter and the cone penetration resistance.
