Linear and non-linear refractive indices of tellurite glasses in the system TeO2-WO3-ZnF2

Glasses in the system TeO2-WO3-ZnF2 have been studied with respect to their densities, molar volume, refractive indices, polarizability, molar refraction and third-order non-linear optical susceptibility. The molar refraction, R-III and the electronic polarizability, alpha(O2-), of the (TeO2-WO3-ZnF2) have been estimated by the refractive indices at different wavelengths. The third-order non-linear optical susceptibilities, x((3)), were measured using degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM). The value of the non-linear refractive index decreases with increasing ZnF2 - but increases with increasing WO3 concentration. Results obtained are discussed in terms of the glass structure.
