Dynamics of Electroencephalography Power, Synchrony and Connectivity in Event-Related Desynchronization

摘要
Suppression in the alpha frequency range is one of the most studied phenomena in electroencephalography (EEG). In fact, there are many factors that affect its activity, and this has given rise to great controversy. The aim of this paper is to present the results for a higher education study group aged between 22 and 30 years during motion stimuli. This study investigated the EEG power suppression and phase synchrony in different sub-bands (theta, lower alpha and higher alpha). Significant differences were obtained by comparing biological (human) to non-biological (object), static/dynamic and observation/action execution of voluntary finger movement stimuli. These results suggest that alpha frequency suppression could be divided into two or more ranges in order to study it in more detail, and new signal processing techniques could also offer more information about its behaviour.
