摘要
Although men and women both vary with respect to monogamous/polygamous inclinations, as indexed by the sociosexual orientation inventory (SOI), the implications of this variation may differ; the variation in mating tactics underlying SOI variation is not necessarily equivalent for each sex. I examined the relationships between scores on the SOI, and scores on the single-item self-esteem scale (SISE), the self-perceived mating success scale (SPMS), and a Limerence scale. Although SISE and SPMS scores were related to each other in both men and women, S01 scores were related to SISE and SPMS scores only in men (both positively), suggesting that SOI variation may be a good assay of tactical variation in males but not in females.
