Three-dimensional modeling study on responses of phased array ground penetrating radar

摘要
Electromagnetic responses of complicated geo-electrical model under excitation of large phased antenna array are calculated by FDTD algorithm. The parameters and radiation patterns of single ANSERLIN antenna and a large antenna array in uniform space, above uniform earth and layered earth are examined by using modeling results. The characteristics of phased antenna array above the earth surface are analyzed for different ground clearances, phase shifts and offsets. It is proved that the phased array GPR (PAGPR) has similar characteristics to the phased array radar for aerial surveillance, possessing beam-confining, electronic control scanning and energy enhancing functions. The modeling results are used to aid the design and testing setup of the system.
