摘要
In this work, a 3D Ultrasound Palmprint recognition system based on a mechanically tilted linear probe has been proposed and experimentally evaluated. The probe is controlled by the ULA-OP research scanner. The system is programmed to scan and acquire, in about 3.4 seconds, the echoes from a 3D sector volume. This new method benefits from a simpler set-up, a shorter acquisition time, and a reduced mechanical and electromagnetic noise due to the use of a 3D probe instead of a complex CNC pantograph. The volumetric images acquired with the proposed system are then elaborated in MATLAB environment to provide several renderings of the 3D and 2D palmprint. The results obtained with the present approach are compared with those achieved with the previous method and a quantitative evaluation of its discriminating potential has provided promising results.
